In my 2 years of Fellowship at Azim Premji Foundation, I was lucky to observe the government education system, their policies and the attempts to implement at the school level through teachers.. The constructive skepticism to question the status quo was very much part of my unlearning. During my struggle to balance between the theory and practice, I tried to understand the learner and the learning process through classroom practices at a selected school, Upper Primary School at Rajyawas, Rajasmand district, in Rajasthan.
"The Teacher's Academy" by Learning Forward India is a Global Innovation recognised by the World Bank Education Group. It promotes building professional learning communities through social media and open-source resources, using the hashtag #HappyTeachers.
The use of technology in the classroom
Technology incorporation in the classroom is the theory, development, utilisation, management, and evaluation of processes and resources for learning. Technology is a broad term that often describes a discipline devoted to techniques or ways to make learning more efficient. It is the responsibility of each educator to provide an educational program that appropriately supports each child's learning development and learning goals. In a technology based society, children must understand and prepare to be productive, independent, creative, and knowledgeable individuals. Having proper access to technology and being able to use technology is essential and will be one of the many skills necessary for future use in the workplace. Technology is a crucial tool that children use to productively carry out ideas, acquire knowledge skills, and solve problems. Technology is both customizable and intrinsically motivating to children; it is compatible to expanding the learning experience. Research on the effectiveness of technology has focused on higher education, but research also suggests that users of specific technology can improve students of all grades learning capabilities as well.

Use of Technology to Engage students better
Technology changes by the minute, and as Educators we need to keep up with the times in order to best prepare our students for this ever-changing world that we live in. Students prefer technology because they believe that it makes learning more interesting and fun. Subjects that students deem challenging or boring can become more interesting with virtual lessons, through videos.
Like everything else, technology can be used for better or for worse. Here are some ways to engage the students better and ease them into difficult to grasp concept through technology.
1. Involve students in making
Involve students in creating a little presentation around concept can be a great way. They collect some pictures around them and present their presentation in the classroom can boost their interest.
2. Get them to present abstract concept
The abstract concept is subject to science, geography is better grasped by using the videos or real-time examples. e.g students are encouraged to record every phase in the lab and then explain what they had done and present to the class their understanding of the concept.
3. Provide out of school experience
Take students to field trips and getting them to document their observations through pictures, movies and presentation encourage them to develop their skills like photography and writing. Allow them to pen down their thoughts and present it with a unique perspective.
4. Engage with social media
Students were encouraged to tweet their lesson or post try heir ideas on using a concept innovatively can be a great idea. e.g. students have to collect ideas on their lesson like energy , solar System and collate them to present their ideas.

How teachers can leverage themselves using technology
What is good learning? That may be a prejudiced question. But it’s likely that many educators would give answers that fall in the same ballpark… …students collaborating and discussing ideas, possible solutions… …project-based learning, designed around real world contexts… …connecting with other students around the world, on topics of study… …immersing students in a learning experience that allow them to grapple with a problem, gaining higher-order thinking skills from pursuing the solution… To many educators, these notions are music to their ears. Would it seem terribly strange then hear that students indeed are doing these things regularly outside of their classrooms? Ensure you're absolutely interested in doing what they're asking of you. Doing it just for the money is not such a great idea.

Incorporating technology in teaching
As technology advances, it can be difficult to keep up and adapt to the advancements in both our personal and professional lives. Teachers have an especially important role to play in technological advancements, as incorporating technology in the classroom can be both a learning tool for students and a teaching tool for the instructor. Kids seem to be adapting to the rapid advancements in technology better than many adults, and they actually embrace it. For this reason, incorporating technology in teaching is a great way to increase a child’s interest in learning. There are numerous ways that teachers can use technology in the classroom and many are already doing it. Some schools use interactive Smart Boards in place of traditional chalk or whiteboards in their classroom. These flat screen monitors are networked with the teacher’s classroom computer and the school’s internet connection. Interactive lessons in math, spelling, science and other subjects can be put on screen for students to participate in. The boards use touch screen technology and in some cases, kids are given handheld remote “clickers” that act as controllers for answering questions presented on screen.

learning about and eventually integrating technology? It begins with a
focus followed by good instructional design -- but ultimately, a healthy
balance.
Tomorrow's Literacy
Technology
is a literacy that is expected in higher education and in our economy.
It is a universal language spoken by the entire world, regardless of the
profession. Our current students will encounter one of the toughest job
markets in generations. Gone are the days of falling into a profession
and riding that wave for 30-plus years. However, it's not to say those
jobs aren't still available. They are, but they're dwindling as
automation and outsourcing continue to expand.
The
contemporary job market requires us to adapt, continually learn, and
apply various skill sets in many directions. We have to multitask,
connect beyond the workday, and collaborate and connect both locally and
globally. And while I am promoting that exposure to technology and
digital tools is essential, we must do so responsibly. Teaching students
how to balance technology usage along with offline socializing and
interpersonal skills is essential. But it's irresponsible to proclaim
that technology simply distracts, diminishes social skills, and holds
lesser value than other content areas. And to do so not only lets our
students down, but also negates the mission statements emblazoned on the
walls of our schools.
It's
equally important to expose students to information literacy skill
sets. As databases grow and information continues to evolve into
paperless formats, it is essential to teach students how to question
effectively and efficiently. In a world flooded with information to
read, libraries have never been more important. Along with digital and
information literacy skill sets, it's still vital that we promote and
encourage a love of reading across all formats -- along with a facility
for questioning, analyzing, discerning and synthesizing with other
media.

Distance yourself from everyday occurrences that can demotive you. Your long term objectives are what matter and you must be focused to achieve them.
