An Educator Is More Than a Traffic Policeman

The above line means that every educator plays the role of a traffic policeman. A traffic policeman has to control the traffic of an area or rather to say traffic at a signal. He sees and keeps a check that all vehicles take a safe root and traffic at the signal runs smoothly and there is no accident or traffic jam. It is his duty to see that there is no inconvenience caused to the people due to traffic. But in our opinion, the role of an educator is more than a traffic policeman. An educator performs many roles like:
  • Thus an educator works beyond the working hours of the school whereas a policeman is free once his duty is over. Educator’s work is carried out after working the hours if required. So the role of an educator is more than that of a traffic policeman.
  • Teaching in the classroom.
  • Teaching moral values to the students so they become a good person.
  • Keeping a check on the students outside the class.
  • Helping them whenever they need help.
  • Sometimes they have to go out of their way to help students if the problem is serious. It may involve talking to the parents to solve the students' problem.

D:\Photos\103_PANA\IMG_5943.JPG

Good Teacher Explain Great Teacher Enliven!

Each Teacher understands as per his / her own capacity and explains to the students to his best.
The lesson is explained as one has understood, it can be imagined as a focused source of light that exists and another light source with more wastage that gives more light and vice versa.

Students understand better if instead of being explained the topic is enlivened  for them, it can be understood by this illustration: To explain gravity, we can explain as the Earth being imagined as hanging in space, all objects including water and sea water should fall off in space, but some force is holding water and objects on earth and this is called gravity.

Journey To Excellence - A Letter from Dr Tazeen Siddiqqui

Dear Educators,

As an Educationist and Trainer from India which is a beautiful land of different cultures and languages and has colourful festivals, that make us all unite and enjoy together with unity in diversity.

I started my career from a pre-primary school but if I may put it exactly than this passion of teaching started when I was in class 1 st as my mother had opened a school for garbage picker kids in our garage and that was the exact age when I started learning the art of sharing knowledge and rise  with Excellence ,I remember we didn't buy a car for so many years because my father used to say that garage is being used the right way and we must continue this  wonderful use of it to help  children learn and  and be literate to face the future confidently.

In pre primary school while being with them closely .I observed how just an activity of jumping the numbers helped them understand the logic of  identification. I observed and learned how a child's  heart and mind fight to decide in a situation of acceptance and disapproval.

When  I became the principal of a school I remember my first day in a class of high school children when I heard the sound of a boy complimenting me as “beautiful” but  when I looked back at the class there was silence .Though I could make out which child said it, instead of being angry at him  I told the whole class to take out their rough book and write an essay on “Being Beautiful”. The idea was to channelize the mischief  to learning . As expected, I witnessed wonderful essays on the topic.

In another incident  when a child hit the other child , I gave the responsibility of the child who was hurt to the one who hurt him for a month and I observed the child who had hit took good care of the child . The idea was to channelize  the emotions  to love and care.

These  and many other similar experiences helped me in training the teachers and principals across India so that our future kids are secure ,nurtured and brought up with a  right approach towards life. This journey had been excellent.

Later I realized that its important  to share my experience  not only with teachers in urban areas but also with   teachers in the interiors of rural areas .So , I began conducting Skype sessions with them. All this experience sharing was very useful this helped me to  write an article on multiple-intelligences (called Multiple Intelligences 54)  an extended 9 Multiple intelligences theory of Howard Gardeners. I presented my paper on “ Multiple Intelligences 54” in Harvard University at WEI International Educational Conference.

I believe when you have passion in heart ,vision in eyes and dedication in approach you crack the real wonders of the world and with this thought I  moved ahead with a vision of quality education irrespective of rural and urban areas and  decided to take great scientist of ISRO to interact with the children of underprivileged school so that for them ISRO should not just be a dream or words in book but a great reality to learn interacting with them so that they get ignited to achieve the heights of success.

Believing everything is possible with great passion, I decided to launch Dr Kalam International Vision India Reader  so that the principals across India can share their best practices and rise with Excellence together with sharing of knowledge and all my work and dreams came true when I was recently awarded Honorary Doctorate degree in Education.

I felt awesome and an added responsibility on my shoulders to work harder and more effectively .I love to see people rising with Excellence together by sharing knowledge as I believe sharing of knowledge is the key to Excellence and now with this great honor ,I am on my journey to share the world what a child has to say and express about his heart and thoughts with the book titled " Know Me Maa!!!!.

The learning is all about your understanding of the particular thing and not just reading and writing. God gave us 2 eyes not 1 because he wants us to understand and watch the world through multi directions and decide it likewise which way to proceed and what to decide  at the best of oneself and others.

“Live life with smiles and rise in life with passion”.

Best Regards,
Dr Tazeen Siddiqui
