What Makes A School? - Carol Henrick

The five words that come to my mind when I hear the word School are learning, teachers, friends, activities & bell.
"Building a relationship with children is by far the most important thing a teacher can do. Without a solid foundation & relationships built on trust & respect, no quality learning will happen."

The role of school in building social skills is vital as it will ensure that students develop the ability to interact with people from different backgrounds and understand them better. The role of school cannot be stressed enough when it comes to building interpersonal and communication skills among kids. It not only helps them find new friends and expand their social circle but also helps build close ties with teachers through class discussions, activities, group work, celebrating festivals together etc.

A school has a great significance in a child's life. Apart from education, the school helps in children's overall development by teaching them real-life skills. In my view, children should be taught about manners, moral values and the basics of humanity. A school that opens the world to you, shows you beauty, allows you to discover the very worst in mankind & helps you to learn to adapt to whatever comes your way.

Schools must equip students with the knowledge & skills they will need to succeed in an uncertain, constantly changing tomorrow. School should be a place for self-exploration & self-determination. It should be a place where talents are revealed & nurtured. A place where children could develop their understanding of what it means to be happy & not to be stressed about anything.A place where you can explore what motivates you & makes you curious to learn.

Positive learning emotions include interest, curiosity, passion creativity & joy. It can enable students to broaden their perspective, see alternatives persist through challenges & respond effectively to criticism & failure.
We have all been to school & loved each and every moment spent over there by playing, doing different activities, studying in a group, participating in different competitions etc., as those were the building blocks of our lives. After home school is the place where we spend the most of our childhood.

A school is a place where children are taught the fundamentals of life as well as how to grow & survive in life. It instils in us values and principles that serve as the foundation for a child's development. As an individual, I feel renewed & blessed to be a teacher. As for a teacher, there is nothing more rewarding than knowing & seeing the evidence that you have made an impact on someone's life. Nothing is more rewarding to a teacher than having a former student return to say, "Thank you, you made a difference".
