The HEAT Trek to Khuliya Top in the Pithoragargh district of the Kumaon Himalayas in Uttarakhand features Daily group departures from 5th to 26th May 2012.
Munsiyari or a 'Place With Snow' is situated on the banks of Goriganga river, is a fast growing tourist destination, that also falls on the ancient salt route from Tibet and is at the entrance of the Johar Valley, which extends along the path of the Goriganga River to its source at the Milam Glacier. The town is surrounded by snow capped peaks, with a key attraction being the trekking route to Khuliya Top. Munsiyari, the center as well as the Gateway of Johar Region is situated 128 Km from Pithoragarh at an elevation of 2298 meters and is snuggled in the folds of snow clad mountains. It is said that the Pandavas had set out for their final journey to heaven from Munsiyari.
Munsiyari is located at a distance of 650 Kms from Delhi and 260 kms from Kathgodam Railway station.
ITINERARY FOR HEAT 2012 for 8 Days/ 7nights
Pre trek: Day 1- Arrival at Kathgodam/Drive to Munisiyari (2300 metres)
Arrive Kathgodam at 5:10a.m. by Ranikhet Express Train.
Board Mahindra Maxx Jeeps and drive towards Munsiyari
Breakfast enroute near Bhimtal
Lunch at Dholchina around 1:00p.m.
Arrive Munsiyari in the evening by appx. 5:30p.m.
Check into camp site. Evening at leisure
Dinner followed by bonfire and songs/ group entertainment
Day 2 Acclimatization day in Munsiyari
Day 3 Trek to Camp 1 at Balati Farms (2800 metre) 7 kms/3-4 hours
Post breakfast, departure for trek to Camp I
Arrive around lunch time
Post lunch, welcome address by the camp leader and allotment of tents on sharing basis
Adventure Activity - Tyrolean Traverse
Soup time followed by dinner and campfire
Overnight in tents (Group Sharing basis)
Day 4 Trek to Camp 2 at Khuliya Bugyals (3400 metres) 6 km/3 hrs
Post breakfast, departure for trek to Camp I
Arrive around lunch time
Post lunch, welcome address by the camp leader and allotment of tents on sharing basis
Adventure Activity - Exploring the Bugyals
Soup time followed by dinner and campfire
Overnight in tents (Group Sharing basis)
Day 5 Climb to Khuliya Top (3750 metres) 6 kms/ 4-5 hrs
Post breakfast, Height gain day to Khuliya Top subject to weather conditions
Return back to the camp around lunch time
Evening at leisure
Day 6 Trek to Camp 1 at Balati Farms Post breakfast, depart for Camp I
Arrive around lunch time
Welcome address by the camp leader and allotment of tents on sharing basis
Adventure Activity - Rappelling
Soup time followed by dinner and campfire

Day 7 Trek down to base camp Post breakfast, departure for basecamp.

Transfer to the railway station to board the overnight train to Delhi at 9:00p.m.

Facilities for proper medical aid are available at every campsite throughout the trek. However those on special medication or with known drug allergies should bring their own necessary medications.

Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of trek routes keeping safety in mind. Our experienced camp leaders have been constantly visiting the area to check all the details. Stringent safety standards are adhered to strictly, and only quality equipment is used.
CANCELLATION POLICY
The package price will be deducted as per the following conditions strictly. No refund will be entertained without receiving a cancellation request effective from the date of receipt of letter.
Notice of less than 30 days: Half fee refund
Notice of less than 15 days: No refund.
No refund will be given to people who are unable to complete the trek or abandon it due to any reasons.
CERTIFICATE & SOUVENIR
Every trekker will be given a souvenir and awarded with a certificate on successfully completing the trek.
