Responsibility and cooperation - Tarang JMMS

What is Responsibility?

Responsibility is the ability to respond and accept that you are the cause and the solution of the matter.

I am responsible for my words, my behaviour, my efforts, my mistakes, my ideas, my actions and the consequences of my actions.

Being responsible is something that is important because it allows you to be depended on even if others can’t be. When we are responsible it means that we are capable of making moral decisions on our own and we are ready to be answerable to others for our behaviour.

Responsible people are the ones that many look up to. Responsible people are always the ones who help out. This quality helps people to find a fondness and trustworthiness towards those who are responsible. Each step we take towards being responsible helps to raise our self-esteem and our relationship with others.

Cooperation on the other hand is also an important value because it allows people and groups to work together to achieve a common goal. Cooperation allows us to gain and exchange knowledge, ideas, thoughts and workload.

At school the children learn to cooperate through activities like playing together in teams, doing project work in groups and even simply building puzzles together enables children to learn how to work together. Part of cooperation is learning how to overcome challenges together.

Trust is the foundation of cooperative behaviour.

In our school we always see the children picking up the dry leaves from the ground and putting them in the dustbin before the assembly. It has become their habit even the little ones help in cleaning the campus. As a part of the institution, it is our duty to keep it neat and clean. As teachers, it is our responsibility to teach the children these little responsibilities from a young age. When the little ones watch their elders even they try to contribute by cooperating with them.

We all have our own Responsibilities.

As teachers, we are responsible person in society as we build the future of our nation. Other people can point it out to us but we can't point it out to anyone.

It is believed that teachers are the epitome of knowledge. They have solutions for every problem. But what a teacher has is other teachers. Every teacher has her own perspectives but only by collaborating with each other we grow together and discover new areas and gain more knowledge.

Even the students help the teacher in the learning process. It's the responsibility of the teacher to impart knowledge. A teacher has the knowledge but the learners cooperate and collaborate and carry on the learning process.

Cooperation is not always an easy thing to achieve in the workplace, but the effort is worth it because it leads to a harmonious and productive space. Cooperation can make the difference between success and failure. When people dedicate more time to their duties in a cooperative manner, they are more productive and things get done more quickly and efficiently.

Honesty and Respect - Innovators BHIS

"Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom." -Thomas Jefferson.

I was relatively a new class teacher to Grade 6 as I had taken over the class midterm. The children were apprehensive about their new class teacher and wanted to create the best impression. They were to submit their first assignment to me, which happened to be an essay. I had told them that I would really appreciate the neat presentation of work. On the day of submission, there was one boy who had submitted the work in a brand new notebook.

Little did I know the actual reason behind it! His work was very neatly done, an absolute delight for any teacher. I showed his notebook to the class and asked them to applaud his neat work. The class obeyed, albeit after a tiny bit of hesitation. That struck me as being odd. I called this child and asked him the reason for using a new notebook. He said the previous one had no pages left for use. I asked him to get that notebook as I would love to see his earlier work, especially as he does it so well. To this, he nodded but the smile vanished from his face.

The following day, before I could go to the class I had this boy waiting outside the staff room to meet me. The first thing he did was to handover the previous notebook to me and say, sorry. As I opened the notebook and looked at him, he rattled off the truth as to how he wanted to impress me so much with the first assignment that he had made his mother write it out for him. He was honest enough to concede that his mother had been unwilling. He chose a new notebook because his earlier handwriting would give away the truth. He confessed he had done this as his poor handwriting had never allowed him to win any appreciation in class. Now he was scared that he would lose his reputation, given his dishonest deed. I assured him that even though he was feeling low now, holding on to honesty was the best thing he could have ever done. I assured him that I will look up to him as a brave and honest child. This brought back the smile on his troubled little face. He learnt that honesty is being true to oneself. Honesty earns respect as we sail through our life and learn to accept things for what they are.

Happiness and Tolerance - Optimizers BHIS

It was my first year as a preschool teacher.  Preschool classes bubble with energy and varied developmental skills.  A  teacher has to balance them all without hurting any child’s emotions. The role of a preschool teacher is challenging; to get children to understand the importance of valuing each other’s emotions.

I had a learner named Darsh. He was an autistic child. During the concept time, he used to feel restless and run about in the classroom and sometimes even used to throw objects at his classmates. This behaviour distracted other children and they started behaving rudely with him. His aggression increased as other children retaliated.

On the one hand, it was necessary for me not to react at Darsh’s behaviour negatively and on the other, guide the remaining class to accept him as he was. I explained and made children understand how Darsh was special than all of us. I had to tell them that each member of a family is different yet we love them and don’t misbehave with them, in the same way, our classroom is our second home. Each and every child is an important member of us in spite of their differences.

The children realised their mistake and whenever Darsh reacted inappropriately, children calmed him down by showering love and care. This change in the children’s behaviour towards him reduced his aggression and we were all a happy family for the rest of the year.

Tolerance is to have  faith and maintain an objective attitude towards others whose lifestyle and behaviour differs from our thought process.  The  moment we accept  people the way they are, the happier we feel.
