School Culture thrives with Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging are the three most essential qualities. Diversity improves tolerance, empathy and critical thinking. Inclusion or Inclusive education provides a friendly atmosphere that helps empower students and Staff. Belonging is acceptance and pride in the Institution. These strong feelings build up confidence and belief.

"There's no magic wand for correcting diversity and inclusion," says writer and advocate Melinda Epler. "Change happens one person at a time, one act at a time, one word at a time." 

The Learning Program is based on the book 'Wanted A Back­Bencher Last Ranker Teacher' by Kavita Ghosh. The teachers collaborate on Reading, Writing and Research and make presentations based on their real-life learning. This is a proven method for helping achieve better student learning outcomes. The eleven sessions are online, and you will see a paradigm shift in your staff teams as they experience eLearning at its best.

LFIN Professional Learning Program (PLP) is a vast and profound learning experience that immerses members in a model of inquiry and problem-­based learning. Staff members work collaboratively to gain knowledge to solve significant student learning problems in their schools. We seek to understand individual members' needs and then assist them in meeting objectives through a collaborative learning environment and with the support of experienced coaches.

The Academy offers a great way to experience blended learning. The 30-minute sessions are followed by group work and assignments; teachers will pick up skills and be future-ready; excellent team building at the school level ensures every individual's personal and social development.

Outcome and Certification: The educators are recognised for their effort with a Certificate Of Appreciation. The PLP is challenging and rewards educators for their actions.

Q. What are the most common instances of dishonest behaviour shown by students in the class? 

A. Dishonest behaviour, also known as academic misconduct, refers to any act that violates the rules of integrity. It can relate to any type of academic activity such as learning, teaching, researching, etc. Some of the common reasons that push students to break the rules of the ethical code include but are not limited to: 

• Poor time management
• Academic overload
• Lack of interest in a certain subject
• Desire to live up to high expectations
• Fear of failure
• Cheating

Cheating is a form of academic dishonesty that refers to using or attempting to use sources or devices that are forbidden during a certain type of assignment. Some of the most common examples involve:

• Using personal notes, course books, or mobile phones during a closed-book examination 
• Copying answers from other students
• Letting somebody copy answers from you 
• Communicating with other students during a test 
• Sabotage 

Sabotage relates to unethical acts that disrupt the work of others. It can involve, for example, refusal to collaborate with other students to complete group projects, destroying learning materials and books that can be necessary for the studying process of others, revealing confidential information crucial for other students to complete their assignments, etc.)

Major causes of academic cheating:- Many reasons push students to cheat. The most common of them include poor time management, fear of getting a low grade, desire to help peers, pressure from parents and teachers, disinterest in a particular subject, etc. 

To prevent the students from breaking the ethical code, it’s crucial to build trustful relationships with them and explain to them the importance of academic honesty. 

Lying:

• A student may lie to avoid punishment. 
• A student may lie to achieve a reward. 
• Students may lie to feel better about themselves. 
• A student may lie to protect others. 
• A student may lie in order to hurt others or get even. 
• A student may lie in order to be accepted into a group or become popular. 

As teachers, we should always reinforce the importance of being honest. Whether we teach 1st grade or 11th grade, our goal should be to ensure that each one of our students understands, care about, and practice being honest until the day they are being honest because that’s just who they are and want to become. Honesty has become part of their identity. Inspiring our students to go out into the world as honest and trustworthy individuals is one of the best lessons we can impart.

Q. How far is it true that you must show respect to earn respect in the classroom? Give an instance. 

A. It's unclear if students actually respect teachers less than they used to, but people certainly perceive it that way. Of course, it's possible that people remember their own school experiences with a bit of nostalgia, and not all schools are the same, so it's hard to tell whether or not kids today really are different than they were in the past.

As a teacher, it is important to show respect to your students in order to earn their respect. When you show respect, you are setting the tone for the class and creating a positive learning environment. You are also modelling the behaviour that you expect from your students. 

There are many reasons why it is important to show respect to your students. First of all, when you treat your students with respect, they are more likely to behave respectfully towards you and others in the classroom. Secondly, when you show respect to your students, they feel valued and appreciated. This can motivate them to work harder and learn more. Finally, when you are respectful towards your students, it builds trust between you and them. This trust can be beneficial in terms of establishing open communication and fostering a positive relationship. 

We as teachers are always looking for new ways to earn the respect of our students. Celebrating successes together is one way to do this. When teachers and students celebrate successes together, it helps to build a rapport and shows that the teacher respects the students. It also helps the students to see that they are working towards a common goal. Either way, teachers who treat students fairly and kindly will always command respect in the classroom. respecting kids includes attention, consideration, concern, and appreciation. 

"Young people are dignified and strengthened by adult respect, "Earning your students' respect requires you to be consistent, keep your word, control your frustration, learn who your students are, be patient, speak in a normal tone of voice, and be kind. As a teacher, it is important to remember that your students are looking to you for guidance and support. 

In order to earn their respect, it is crucial that you be genuine and sincere when interacting with them. This will help create a positive and supportive learning environment where your students can thrive. Show them that you care about their well-being. This can be done in a variety of ways, including connecting with them on a personal level (e.g., by sharing personal stories and experiences), providing feedback on their work, and asking them how they’re doing. 

There was a boy in my class. He was excessively talkative. He even engaged the other students in his talks. I made him understand by all means like by being polite and sometimes even by scolding him not to talk that much. But he never understood that. He didn't like it when I used to tell him to stop talking. Slowly he started disobeying me in the class. 

Then I decided to make him the monitor of the class. He enjoyed quieting the other students who were talking in the class. He loved to shoulder this responsibility. He thanked me for making him the monitor of the class. Whenever I assigned him any duties, he happily fulfilled them all; in this way, I was successful in gaining the respect of my student.

Simplicity and Trust - Anvesha Rana

                                                                                       

Simplicity and Trust go hand-in-hand. Students can only trust you, if you are simple enough and you can be simple, only by letting others trust you.  

Simplicity makes everything easier be it life, be it love or be it learning. Simplicity is the cure for our topsy-turvy world where we are constantly running after things, we don't even know. It is directly proportional to humility. When we are ordinary, we are modest but when we are extraordinary, we might fill ourselves with pride and arrogance. If we live simply, we can connect better. As teachers, we need to bend ourselves to the level of students and then talk to them, for one day they might grow taller than us. 

Simplicity and Curiosity are the sides of the same coin. Being simple allows us to explore new dimensions of learning, enter different worlds of growth and discover new paths to limitless places. It arises curiosity and there is no better way of learning than learning with inquisitiveness and love. Simple is perhaps the best way to do anything. 

The reason why I love all my teachers is that they are the purest form of simplicity. With just a mix of chalk and challenges, teachers can change lives. I love my school because I get to see my teachers, beaming at us no matter how notorious we are, no matter how much pain they suffer yet they put a brave face on and smile. The simplicity of a teacher can make her a friend or a mother, for students need that one teacher whom they deeply love. Blackboards, books and chalk, a teacher is much more than this all... 

We don't need to be so complex that we tangle in our threads and tumble down the stairs. What we all need is simplicity. Simple enough to accept the truth, simple enough to work on your mistakes and simple enough to learn from others. If we do what our conscience allows, if our mind and body are in harmony and if we see the beauty within then, we live simply.  A Simple Life is always a Happy Life. 

Another value we need for a Happy Life is Trust. T for Teachers and T for Trust so, Trust is the most important value that a school should evolve and Trust is also something that we learn from an early age. It is the faith, belief and responsibility that we thrust upon a reliable person. In school, trust starts when Parents send their children to school, trusting that the teachers will make their kids experience the joy of learning. 

The second transfer of trust in a school is when teachers entrust students with responsibilities which could be as small as collecting the notebooks, or minding the class, or even helping a new student. If we want to gain trust, then first we need to learn how to trust others. A Teachers trusts a student, for then only can the student learn to respect, to listen to and to trust the teacher. 

The third type of trust that circulates in a school is among students. Children trust their friends with secrets or with projects. In a group activity, it is very important that everyone connects, collaborates and creates with blind trust over the others. Trust is the foundation of Teamwork. The last type of trust which is beyond school boundaries, is when a teacher trusts a student to keep in touch and to keep connect even when they are no longer in school. It is this bond of trust that ties us in a school forever, even when we are no longer students but we will always be lifelong learners, all thanks to the trust we share. 

Simplicity and Trust may be easy to speak about but they are earned only when our actions meet our words.

Honesty and Respect - Parivartan SHS

THE ARRANGEMENT

“Triiiinnngggg!”, the bell chimed announcing the commencement of a new academic session. Mr Rohit, as nervous as he was, was prepared to face the challenges of being appointed as the new classroom teacher for the 8^th grade. He had already planned ways to involve new ideas in his classroom and he was extremely excited.

As soon as he entered the class, he noticed the disorganized seating arrangement and so he decided to bring about more harmony and equality among the students. He planned the seating arrangement according to the physical attributes of his students, focusing on their heights. At the end, he was quite impressed with his managing skills.

As the days went by, he noticed that some of the back-benchers had frequently begun disrupting the class by constantly giggling, and disturbing the fellow classmates.

One day, Mr. Rohit decided to take up a class test, and he expected everyone to excel, but the outcome was quite contradictory. The back-benchers had failed to grasp the concept of his lessons, this disappointed him.

He decided to confront them in the class

“Anup, Soraj, and Raj”, Mr. Rohit said sternly,” Why have you not studied properly?”

The three boys kept quiet.

“Answer me!”,  Mr. Rohit ordered, sensing a surge of anger swelling inside him, “Did you not understand what was being taught?”

The three boys didn’t reply.

Mr Rohit took a deep breath, collected himself and asked in a softer tone, “I am sorry if I am being harsh. I just want all of you to be involved in the class and gain as much as you can. If you had some problem with my teaching method, you should have told me beforehand.”

Then suddenly, one of the boys- Aditya who was sitting at the front, answered. “Sir, they weren’t able to see, and hear you properly. They have some shortcomings of their own.”

This revelation disappointed Mr Rohit as he understood his impulsive mistake. He smiled and replied, “I apologize for my ignorance and quick judgment, and I am grateful to Aditya for being truthful and helping out your friends.” And then addressing the three back-benchers he said, “I apologize to you three as well, it was my mistake that paved the way to your bad performance, but you should have been honest from the beginning. Honesty is an important asset that needs to be learnt and followed. If your friend wouldn’t have pointed out my mistake and your difficulty, then I would have never known and this would have hampered your performance in your academic career. Please don’t ever forget this and the next time if you have any problem, please be bold and honest with me.”

The back-benchers realized their mistake and apologized to their class and vowed to be sincere and truthful after that incident.

The seating arranged was then changed as per the requirements of the students. This change shifted the progress of the students to another level and the entire class performance improved tremendously.

LIFE LESSONS

Sarla was the epitome of what is known as the ‘Average Student’. Her overall performance during her school life was neither too good nor too bad, but the most remarkable attribute she had was her sincerity and her heart of respecting everyone around her.

The other children used to criticize her for being mediocre, calling her ‘meek’ and ‘naïve’, but she never reacted to their odd comments, she was always polite and sincere under all circumstances.

A few years later, after she had completed her studies, Sarla ran into her old English teacher, Miss Jasmine. By then, Sarla had already accomplished many goals and was doing marvellously well in her career. She was known as the Woman of great Honour, but even then she never forgot her old values and integrity.

At first, Miss Jasmine thought that like her other old students, Sarla too would ignore her but to her surprise, the latter quickly recognized her from a distance and came up to her.

“Ma’am!”, Sarla exclaimed with a smile, “Good evening! I am so glad to see you!”

Miss Jasmine was taken aback and she smiled back saying, “Good evening, Sarla. I thought that you would never recognize me.”

“How can I not recognize you, ma’am!” Sarla said, “If it wouldn’t have been for you, I would be nowhere right now. Whatever I know, I learnt from you.”

“From me?” Miss Jasmine asked, “What did I teach you? I was only an English teacher.”

Sarla smiled saying,” Ma’am, to me you aren’t just an old English teacher, but you are also my role model. I learnt great life lessons from you, and all that has shaped me into who I am today. The way you listened to each and every one of us, and the way you respected our ideas have helped me grow so much as an individual. I am so grateful to you! Thank you, ma’am”

This made Miss Jasmine very pleased, her role as a teacher had become a medium of inducing inspiring development in a student. She felt like she had done her part and played her role successfully, she felt a deep sense of satisfaction grow inside her heart.
