Be Virtuous and Sensible - Sharmila Vijayvargi

My Book of Positive Thoughts by Anil Kumar
Virtuous persons are those who adopt a high moral standard. Their behaviour is morally good and desirable, and their character is a bundle of virtues. Such persons are sensible, that is, they are wise and prudent. They can distinguish between the right and the wrong and always stand by and for the right.

We should do our best to be virtuous and sensible. Simplicity, humility, love, compassion, politeness and courtesy are the hallmarks of a virtuous and a sensible person. We should develop them in us. We must not allow anger, hatred, pride, boastfulness, meanness and evil thoughts to affect our virtues and sensibility.

Our virtues and sensibility get expressed in our manners and etiquette. We are nothing but our manners and etiquette, which our conduct always exhibits wherever we go and whatever we do. For a start, we must learn to be always cheerful, polite and courteous in our behaviour. We ought to obey and respect our parents, elders and teachers and everyone around us. Little words of gestures such as 'please', 'thanks', and excuse me for making our speech courteous.

We must also avoid criticizing others for any reason. If we must disapprove of others'  unbecoming behaviour, we must choose our words carefully. Unnecessary criticism of others can seriously affect our relationships. We have no right to indulge in scandalous talk about others and spoil their name and harm their reputation. Since ours is a democratic country, people are free to have different views, opinions and beliefs.

Therefore, we may disagree with others on all matters, but we must respect the freedom of thought and expression. We must learn to understand and appreciate the views of others, and for this, we should develop the fine art of listening to others with patients and compassion.

Finally, a word about our speech: a polite and courteous speech is an index of our mind and character. It can win us friends, respect and a good reputation and if it is the other way round, we may develop a lot of enemies around us. Therefore, always be polite, courteous and well mannered.

Unity and Caring - Prakash Dangi

Unity is a very important value in human life. Doing any work United for completing any special
work or goal is called unity. It means being together or well connected to everyone. We all know that a common phrase is " Unity is strength". It means standing together in thick and thin. I remember when I was a child, this value was explained by a chapter in my textbook. This chapter had a short story which is based on the importance of unity. It explained that one stick can be easily broken.

On the other hand, to break a bundle of the stick is really difficult or impossible. So we recognize the power of unity. It has great value at every stage of life. So Our first duty is to maintain in our life. Unity is the root of success in every great work. It gives us the strength to face the difficult situation without becoming weaker, mentally or physically. Unity is the teamwork of players which help them to win matches and bring pride to their school, country and yourself.

It helps us in enjoying every moment. On the other hand, Caring is when you do a good deed for someone because it is the right thing to do. When you care for someone, you make a difference in the world with kindness. I believe that caring for others is beautiful and noble. Great teachers care about their students. They want them to succeed and are committed to helping them achieve their goals.

Moreover, teachers care about their students’ happiness, well-being and life beyond the classroom.
A student is far more responsive to a teacher who cares, and is, therefore, more likely to learn and engage. Connecting with your students establishes trust, which is important to the students’ learning because it makes them comfortable enough to participate, ask for help when needed, and pay closer attention to advice and encouragement. It is being compassionate and supporting people as they go through tough times. It is a good trait for everyone to have and the world will be a better place if we care for one another.

Humility and Appreciation - Ajay Vijayvargi

Pride makes us artificial;
Humility makes us real.
-Thomas Merton

Humility is the mother of all virtues, it's true as, if we are modest then we will never consider
ourselves to be better than others. In a workplace each one is important. Our workplace is a classroom, where we often find there are some students who are boastful and they think themselves to be superior, now this may be due to family status, personality, appearance, intelligence –there can be lot many reasons but it is the duty of the educator to treat all students equally and explain to them that each one of us is human beings and we are created equal by the almighty.

If one student is good in one field others can be good in some other skill such as sports, skill (music, drawing etc). So they should be thought to be aware of their own limitations, have self-control, not to tease others, make others feel inferior by their words or deeds.

Secondly, they should be thought to appreciate others which are art, it acts as a motivation for everyone especially students, as it shows one's character and appreciation and motivation has great power in itself as it can change negative thoughts into a positive one.

Thus we see that an educator can play a very vital role in developing moral values in students who in turn will inculcate in themselves will turn them into a good individual for the family, society and nation as a whole.

Humility

Before understanding more about humility, we must know its meaning. Humility is the state of being humble and respect for others. It also means the ability to give up our pride and still retain our dignity. It makes a person more civilized. Humility includes others values also like patience, kindness, fairness and tolerance.

It is an act without reward. A person who has humility is more responsible, kind, faithful, sensible, caring and cooperative. It is the foundation of leadership. Humility helps us to understand a person and being helpful towards him. It builds trust between two persons and makes their relationship stronger. A teacher can teach his students humility by setting an example of having humility, by helping them to overcome their challenges,  by teaching them how to apologize when they are wrong etc.

There are many people who have done something great in life like Sachin Tendulkar and Narendra Modi, but they are very humble in life. Such people when they meet ordinary people they are very respectful towards them. They never show pride in them.

A few months ago Sachin Tendulkar was spotted playing cricket with street children. It was his motivation for the children to play cricket. He didn't think about his celebrity status, it was his love for the cricket and the children who were playing it, which brought him there. It shows his humility. A person can’t become great unless he has moral values in himself.
