Never Give Up Hope - Prerna Rathod

Hope is a rope that is a lifeline for everyone. It is a ray of light when a person is in darkness. Hope makes us believe that nothing is impossible in this world. If you have faith in yourself and are ready to work hard, you can achieve success to complete the impossible task. Hope gives us wings to fulfil our dreams and help us create a path to achieve our goals.

As Educators, we must inculcate this value of hope in our children. Life is very unpredictable, and sometimes we will face failure. So hope is the only thing that will help us to move on and restart our task again. We can give examples of great personalities like Albert Einstein, Charlie Chaplin, Walt Disney, etc., who didn't achieve success in one go. They faced many failures and then got a win. If we tell them their stories, then children will understand the importance of hope in our life.

I would like to give a real-life example. My aunt was diagnosed with cancer. All family members were worried and upset. My aunt was sad, and she gave up hope to live. But then, seeing her children, she decided to go through the treatment and fight cancer as her children needed her. So she took tratment. Though it was painful, she was successful in defeating cancer. She was cancer-free and now is with her family, safe and healthy.

I would like to end with the quote, "Hope is such an energy by which any dark part of life can be illuminated". So let's carry "Hope" with ourselves.

Humility and Appreciation - Swabhi Parmar

Humility is the quality of being humble and means putting the needs of another person before your own, and thinking of others before yourself. It also means not drawing attention to yourself, and it can mean acknowledging that you are not always right. Humility is often characterized as genuine gratitude and lack of arrogance, a modest view of one’s self. To be humble, we must have faith that God will lead us in the best way to live.

In every aspect of life,  we should be humble to every living being on this planet. This attribute can make us stand different from others. We can have many examples of the people who had humble qualities in their lives and they stood different and they were loved by all. For example:- Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and so on. You should have the ability to embrace humility in real life and this could only come to you when you appreciate the efforts of others.

Both the values of humility and appreciation are interconnected to each other. Appreciation can do wonders. It can motivate a person to a great extent. It can make a person work to its full productivity as it is a fact that every person in the institution has enormous potential in different areas. Appreciation can be characterized by interest, attention, devotion and friendliness. A humble person gets maximum appreciation in life.

Humility and appreciation go hand in hand. By getting proper appreciation, we feel like we are important in other people’s lives. We all need to be noticed and valued. Appreciation is the core of every healthy relationship and Humility is self-awareness and empathy and these things are in short supply these days but if we have them then they are truly helpful. So we should be humble and appreciate every one. We should try and appreciate small acts of kindness. We should inculcate good values in us before we expect it from others. This is the key to real happiness.

Freedom and Peace - Bharti Rao

Freedom and Peace are the two values which go hand in hand. Freedom is the ability of
thoughts and actions to be executed without any unnecessary restrictions. Freedom helps us to blossom and grow positively.

Freedom of thoughts and actions in classrooms creates a sense of responsibility and a peaceful environment. When we Educators plan engaging activities for our students and give the freedom to share their experiences the students also become active learners.

The students should be free to set their own rules and regulations for themselves so that with a sense of responsibility they will not break the decorum of the classroom.
It has been observed that freedom builds up a strong relationship between the student and his teacher which gives better learning outcomes. It will remove the fear of their teachers from the students' mind which many children possess. Freedom enhances our thinking skills and becomes self-reliant.

We, teachers, are not there to create robots but instead, we have to groom the students to be decision-makers, self-reliant and good human beings which is only possible when we give them freedom. If you give freedom to the children they start respecting and trusting their teachers. It is the foremost duty of the Educators to inculcate these values in their students because school is the place where the child is nurtured into a good human being.

By organizing activities like role-playing, storytelling, debate etc. we can inculcate these values in our students. I would like to end by quoting' Happiness, Freedom and Peace of Mind are always attained by giving them to someone else.'

Humility and Appreciation - Ajay Vijayvargi

Pride makes us artificial;
Humility makes us real.
-Thomas Merton

Humility is the mother of all virtues, it's true as, if we are modest then we will never consider
ourselves to be better than others. In a workplace each one is important. Our workplace is a classroom, where we often find there are some students who are boastful and they think themselves to be superior, now this may be due to family status, personality, appearance, intelligence –there can be lot many reasons but it is the duty of the educator to treat all students equally and explain to them that each one of us is human beings and we are created equal by the almighty.

If one student is good in one field others can be good in some other skill such as sports, skill (music, drawing etc). So they should be thought to be aware of their own limitations, have self-control, not to tease others, make others feel inferior by their words or deeds.

Secondly, they should be thought to appreciate others which are art, it acts as a motivation for everyone especially students, as it shows one's character and appreciation and motivation has great power in itself as it can change negative thoughts into a positive one.

Thus we see that an educator can play a very vital role in developing moral values in students who in turn will inculcate in themselves will turn them into a good individual for the family, society and nation as a whole.

Discipline shapes one's Personality - Bharti Rao

Discipline means order or code of behaviour which is the key to success. If you want to be successful you need to inculcate a sense of duty and obedience of life. Self-discipline is essential not only in the student’s life but also in all walks and ages of life. If you are not disciplined and do have a structure, then your life will be full of chaos and confusion.
Self-discipline needs to be inculcated very early in life. It helps us to build self-confidence, balances our personality and helps us to inculcate good work ethics. Discipline is a must both in schools, home or our workplaces. In today’s world where we see cut-throat competitions and as time is precious; there is a need for us to be disciplined.
Concentration also comes through self-discipline and this will help us to scale new heights. We need to be disciplined both in our personal and private life. Discipline helps us to create an order which helps us to perform in a systematic way. Disciplined life helps in time management. So, if we want to be successful we need to aim to be more self-disciplined.

Simplicity and Trust - Nikita Rajpurohit

Simplicity refers to the quality of being simple. It means to be yourself, to be natural without any show-offs.  When we talk about simplicity, it can be living a comfortable life in a simple way like a simple lifestyle, simple dressing sense, simple food, etc. When we are simple, people feel comfortable to talk to us and it automatically generates trust.

Trust means to believe in oneself, others, etc. Where there is trust, there is no need to prove yourself right. It means to believe other’s words without asking for any evidence or proof. It is rightly said, " Trust is like a vase, once it is broken, it can never be the same again".To maintain every relationship, trust is required.  Trust can be built only when we listen to people, understand them without judging them. We need to inculcate these values in our students as it plays a major role in our life.

We, as educators, need to interact with students, understand them to build a good rapport. In the classroom, we need to use simple strategies to make students understand, like using simple language, converting theory into practice, play way methods, fun learning, etc. It has been a proven fact that these strategies help students to remember things for a long time. We can inculcate trust among students by giving them responsibilities. When they will be assigned some work, they will try their best to fulfil their duties and responsibilities and will maintain that trust which the teacher has shown on them.

I will share one classroom incident where simplicity and trust is depicted. When I joined the school and was made class teacher of VIII B, I appointed a monitor. But I observed that students were not listening to him. Then I kept changing monitors but still no change could I see. Then slowly with time, I observed a boy who was well-liked by all his classmates. He was, of course, naughty also. But still, I appointed him as the monitor.

I saw a change that in the absence of a teacher, he managed the class very well and carried out all his duties properly. I was really very happy to see him managing class so well that I appreciated him. As I showed trust in him and gave responsibilities, he also maintained that trust. So this is how we can build trust in a simplified manner.

Responsibility and Cooperation - Bharti Rao

Responsibility and Cooperation are the two pillars that go hand in hand for cooperative
learning. Team building is a common factor of these two values. The efficient group members cooperate and pool in their efforts to achieve their proposed goals.

Cooperation helps to learn to overcome challenges together. When the children work together in a team they identify and solve their problems with each other's help. Cooperation also helps the children to understand other's opinions and inculcate the value of patience.

Teachers need to bestow responsibility for children from the very beginning. Teachers should give responsibilities for learning. Culture of responsibility and cooperation can be developed in school as a number of activities can be organised for them in and outside classrooms.

Responsibility is given to the students to organise events like Teacher's Day, Farewell, Annual Day etc. They will trust their team to exhibit a good show. Players on the field are also good examples of these values as together with their endurance and hard work try to achieve their goal. We all show our responsibility by giving our best in our team with the help of our team.

On several occasions, I have given the responsibility to my students to look after the younger ones during trips, picnics, etc. Working together with the cooperation the students together with discipline carried out their work.  In the end, I would like to quote " Responsibility finds away. Irresponsibility makes excuses.

Courage and Patience - Monica Vaishnav

Courage is not about having the strength to fight and win or let down others in front of us.
According to me, courage is inner strength which inspires us to do the right thing, it doesn't matter how difficult it is. Courage is to raise voice against wrong, courage is to stand by the truth in any situation even if you are standing alone, it is when you can forgive someone and on the other hand, you also can apologise for your own mistakes. Courage is to have the confidence to face any situation in life and be with the right things.

Patience is to handle things calmly without being aggressive or showing our anger. Patience helps us to control our emotions or reactions which can be harmful to us in future to deal with different circumstances. Patience also helps us to gain our goals in life because without patience people may lose hope and give up. It makes us stronger internally and reacts wisely. It brings peace and relaxation to our minds. If we have patience, we can stand up and start the work even after the failures in life. In other words, we can say, it creates a second chance for us to get success.

How it is possible that we can express courage without patience. One must have the patience to show courage in the right way. An educator should have the patience to manage the student's behaviour in the classroom. Sometimes,  the situation is not as we want in the classroom, it can be the poor academic performance of students or disrespectful behaviour. But in such situations, we must talk to them calmly and have the courage to show them the right path.  It is very important to inculcate these values in our children. They would need the patience to achieve what they want and to improve their skills slowly with time. They should have the courage to face and overcome their challenges and show their abilities.

We can explain these values with the real exam of what we are going through these days. Everyone is going through different situations due to COVID- 19 pandemic. In this situation, especially the Health and Police departments are the true examples of courage and the people who are at home, not going outside are showing their patience to fight against this worldwide disaster.
