Reverse the Page

Today’s task? Analysing a business segment report.

Reaction? Silence. Confusion. Hesitation.
The data felt unfamiliar. The faces looked lost.

So I gently said, “Let’s reverse the page.”
📄 On the other side: a student report card.

“Now tell me what comes to mind.”

Suddenly, the classroom lit up. The task was familiar. Their faces softened, eyes sparkled with understanding. They compared test scores, calculated percentage change, and spoke confidently — using the language of their own experience.

💬 “The student is doing well in Maths.”
💬 “Needs to work on Science.”

I asked, “How do you know that?”
They built tables, performed calculations, and explained their reasoning:

Then I said, “Now flip the page again.”
“Can you tell how different segments of the business are performing?”

This time, they smiled. It wasn’t alien anymore. It was familiar.
Familiar patterns. New data. Same logic.

(Not sharing the solution here- Can you try and analyse the segment report and tell me which segment is the best performing segment)

Sometimes, all it takes to unlock understanding is a simple cue:
➡️ “Reverse the page.”

Don’t just give answers. Activate prior knowledge.
Engage the affective domain (emotion + familiarity) to assemble new understanding.

Because learning isn’t a straight line — it’s a journey of discovery, struggle, and small victories.

Hope and Friendship - Byju Joseph

Hope is the feeling or expectation to happen something in a positive manner. Everyone has hope. It is always optimistic. But life is not according to our expectations. There are many tough times in our lives. We need to face them fearlessly. Hope always provides confidence to fight against the adverse circumstances and help to achieve success. There are many situations in our lives where we expect a cent per cent success but at the final stage, we lose our expectations. In all such situations, our hope will help us to analyze and correct our mistakes to achieve better results. Our lives become colourful and meaningful because of hope only. When we fall ill, our body and mind become weak but our hope helps to form a mind set up that leads to an easy recovery.
If there is hope there is a reason to live. Hope strengthens our mind. There is a proverb that says, “Necessity is the mother of invention”. When it is absolutely necessary to do a thing, and there is no way of doing it, we strain our brains and invent the possibilities. We are using the technologies and facilities without thinking about the hard work of those people who worked behind to create them. We must be thankful to those people or scientists who have invented so many things for mankind by their hard work for many days with patience and curiosity. Beyond these all efforts and success, there must be hope.

Parents have expectations from children and children have expectations from parents. Teachers have expectations from students and students have expectations from teachers. In the same manner, as citizens of the country, we have expectations from other fellow beings and vice versa. Thus mutual expectations exist among us. We understand each other and mutual relationships become stronger. These cordial relationships strengthen gradually and lead to friendships and we hope to fulfil our needs.
Friendship is a divine gift because it is purely based on love. It is a close relationship formed by mutual understanding among different individuals where we can find love, caring, acceptance and sharing. We all like to have true friends. True friends are those who feel happy in our success and feel sad in our failures. Due to the influences of certain factors, true friendship becomes rare and only a few people experience it on these days. The weakening or failure of friendship should never be promoted. School is the proper place where true friendship can originate and flourish. Childhood friendship will continue smoothly and last for the whole life. Educators and parents have equal responsibilities to correct the mistakes of children and to inculcate and promote values in them. Byju P. Joseph The Fabindia School bjh@fabindiaschools.in

Importance of Writing in our life: Byju Joseph

We can express our own ideas and opinions in different ways. It is possible by expressions, by signals, by communication, by writing or by speaking. It is not necessary to select only a particular way to express them but perfection is important. Writing is one of the powerful modes of expressing ideas. Writing helps us to communicate better.  If we want to become a good writer we must be a good read which will help us to improve vocabulary, sentence structures and grammar.

We all have ideas but the way of presentation of them will lead to identifying the personality. It is not an easy job for everyone because a lot of mental exercises are needed for writing. It is the work of our brain to analyze and arrange our own ideas, imagination, feelings, knowledge and information to present before others. When we write anything most of the parts of the brain involve accomplishing it. This will help to improve memory which will lead our imagination into reality.  Writing helps to stimulate the brain especially the left hemisphere which is the dominant part that controls all the related activities. Both the hemispheres have lobes, out of which the frontal lobe mostly regulates writing and speaking in association with other lobes.

As the human brain develops at an age of early childhood it is very important to teach the children how to write everything properly. The first step in this regard is to write and learn alphabets and then to words. Gradually they attain the knowledge of forming sentences. Developing a writing skill will help them to gather and analyze their ideas in an effective manner. Children should get the freedom to write whatever they want to. More and more interest will develop and that will direct them to form creative ideas. Creativity will surely lead to better output in their academic areas. Handwriting is another aspect which improves by continuous practice. By seeing the handwriting we identify the nature and confidence level of children.

The overall writing is a skill which should be practised and improved by all.

Tazeen Taxology

Abstract: This paper intends to explain the Model of Education“TazeenTaxology” approach to the implementation of the concepts in the classroom or I call it in a garden of knowledge. There are 9 approaches to it in inverted pyramid shape explaining the expanded view taking to the focus of the concepts with its results and follow ups.

Methodologies and Techniques:- The 9 Techniques are as follows:

  • Exploration
  • Identification
  • Description
  • Classification
  • Integrating similar Concept
  • Analyze
  • Apply
  • Results
  • Follow up

Exploration: The Concept delivery must first start with exploring of it's theme for example the child must explore the theme of the chapter first and then proceed with its concepts.

Identification: After exploring the theme of the Chapter, identity the topic to be delivered in the classroom.

Description: Describe the Identified topic in brief and explain its motive.

Classification: After Description Classify the topic in groups or themes.
Integrating similar Concept:- After classification group similar topics together. Integrate activities to the Concept

Analyze: Analyze the Concept activity and its Methods to delivery.

Apply: Apply the Concept and record the Application of the  process.

Results: Examine and record the results and follow revision Pattern

CONCLUSION
It helps children in understanding the approach of the concept and its detailed learning with cognitive understanding of the concept with exploring and enhancing the intelligences of the child through concept integrated learning activities.
