A true Guru does more than teach — they nurture, guide, and walk alongside us as we learn to navigate life. Mr. Dutt, you have embodied this role with quiet strength and deep humility. Your presence in our lives has been a gift, not just for what you’ve taught us, but for how you’ve taught us to believe in ourselves.

With patience and clarity, you’ve helped shape minds and build character. You’ve never needed to raise your voice to make an impact — your actions, your discipline, and your unwavering belief in your students have spoken louder than words ever could. You’ve shown us how to lead, not by instruction, but by example.

Each lesson from you carried more than knowledge — it took a message of integrity, of perseverance, of compassion. Even when we faltered, you saw something in us worth nurturing. You never imposed answers — instead, you encouraged us to think, to question, to find our own truths.

On this Guru Purnima, we offer our deepest gratitude. Thank you for being a guiding light — not just in the classroom, but in life. Thank you for inspiring us to grow not just in intellect, but in spirit.

Wishing you continued strength and fulfilment on your path. May your wisdom continue to shine in the lives of many more.

Episode #97: Sandeep Dutt, in conversation with Dr Ashok Pandey, his life story is beautiful; growing up in a village, he understood the need for values, diversity, and respect for the Guru. He talks about the idea of diversity and dedication of teachers; his teacher had a bag library and carried books for children to read to school every day! The role of a teacher is the highlight of this show. In the late 1960s, his teacher won the President of India's Award and travelled to Delhi. We see in him the true spirit of 'Guru without gururh' (truly selfless)'.

Dr Pandey believes in teachers first and empowers every individual; he is a team-builder and celebrated school leader. Dr Pandey was listed by Forbes India 2020 among the top 100 People Managers; he is now the Director of the Ahlcon Group of Schools in Delhi and has served as the Principal of the Ahlcon International School until 2019. Author of several articles and research papers, his third book, Launch Your Inspiring Principal Leadership, was published in 2019. Dr Pandey received the President of India award for his outstanding education services. Currently engaged in inter-faith dialogue and peacebuilding, has participated in the Global Peace Convention, held in Seoul,2019, the UN festival for Action on SDGs held in Bonn, 2018 and the Indo-Australia Leadership dialogue, Melbourne, 2017. Dr Pandey sits on the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) Governing Body, India; volunteers as the National Coordinator of Climate Reality Education Program in India; and sits on several advisory bodies. Dr Pandey is passionate about a system shift in education.

According to Dr Pandey, the teachers must eschew being a broadcaster and acknowledge several alternative sources of knowledge. The classrooms need a redesign to elicit students' love for learning and self-development. The pedagogy must shun predictability and encourage curiosity, innovation, and participation. Schools should be a place where students learn to become responsible citizens and engage in community development. As an advocate of Sustainable Development Goals, he believes that equity and social justice should shape curriculum and pedagogies.

Rajashree Rao: How good are you!?!

"Good people are like candles. They burn themselves to give light to others" In life "Goodness" is the only investment that will never fail. An important virtue which we humans fail to practice in our life. My preceptor hashtag#KrsnaGuru shared a compelling lesson on why we must never leave our hashtag#goodness for anybody in this world. My master asked, "what is the difference between others and myself if I were to behave or mistreat someone or even worse than them?" I would only fall many notches lower than the others to whom I might be comparing. The answer is I need not leave my goodness and stoop down to their level or fall beyond them. I have to always be high-up there and be my good self. Every morning when I go to hashtag#gym, I will wish everyone whom I meet. However, not everyone does reciprocate, and it does not matter since I have done my part of wishing. I find it hard to believe that people are no more friendly since they are all lost in their world of "I, Me, and Myself." Life is beautiful if you learn to face everything like a child who is always inquisitive and wants to experience. Only through experiences can you unravel the hidden treasures. "Good, better, and best. Never let it rest till your good becomes better, and your better is best"

गुरू महिमा

गुरू ही है जो अपने शिष्यों को अज्ञान रुपी अंधकार से ज्ञान रुपी प्रकाश की ओर ले जाते हैं। माँ बालक की प्रथम गुरू कहलाती है क्योंकि कई सारी बांतें बालक अपनी माँ से ही सीखता है। द्वितीय स्थान शिक्षक का है, वह भी अपना सर्वश्रेष्ठ अपने शिष्य को देने की इच्छा रखता है।

गुरू की महिमा का वर्णन कोई नहीं कर सका गुरू का स्थान ऊँचा रहा है पहले के जमाने में गुरूआश्रम में अपने शिष्यों को शिक्षा देते थे । लेकिन समय बदला और  बहुत सारे बदलाव आए अबगुरूकुल या आश्रम से स्कूल कॉलेज बन चुके हैं। गुरू हमें सही गलत की शिक्षा देता है। मार्गदर्शन करता है हमें सब कुछ सिखाता है गुरू का आज भी आदर है गुरू-पूर्णिमा  का पर्व बड़े धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है। भले ही कबीरदास जी अनपढ़ थे परन्तु गुरू की महिमा का भान था उन्हें तभी तो वे कहते थे-

गुरू गोबिन्द दोऊ खड़े काके लागु पाय।
बलिहारी गुरू आपनी गोबिन्द दियो बताय।

स्वयं ईश्वर ने कहा है कि गुरू महान है क्योंकि परमात्मा तक पहुँचने का मार्ग गुरू ही दिखलाता है। प्राचीन काल में जब गुरुकुल में शिक्षा होती थी तब गुरू व शिष्य में घनिष्ठ  संबंध होते हैं, वे साथ रहते तथा एक दूसरे को ठीक तरह समझते थे । महाभारत में जैसे सभी जानते हैं कि  एकलव्य द्रोणाचार्य से  छिप-छिपकर  धनुष  विद्या सीखता था। वह सर्वश्रेष्ठ धनुर्धर बन चुका था गुरूदक्षिणा में उसका अंगूठा अपने गुरू को दे दिया क्योंकि एकलव्य के लिए धनुष विद्या अपने गुरू से बढ़कर नहीं थी । इसी महाभारत में जब युद्ध का वर्णन आता है तब पांडव युद्ध करने से पहले अपने गुरू द्रोणाचार्य को प्रणाम करते हैं और गुरू भी विपक्षी दल में होते हुए विजय का आशीर्वाद देते थे। दोनों पक्षों में कितनी सरलता छिपी रहती थी जो केवल ऐसे अवसरों पर ही दृष्टिगोचर होती थी।

समय अवश्य बदला है किन्तु गुरू का स्थान नहीं।  आज भी शिक्षक अपने शिष्य को उच्च ज्ञान देने के लिए तत्पर रहता है।  इस हेतु वह स्वयं नवीन तथ्यों से अवगत रहता है। समाचार-पत्रों, पत्रिकाओं या अन्य पुस्तकों द्वारा समसामयिक गतिविधियों से साक्षात्कार करता रहता है। गुरूसे हमेशा सीखते रहिए कभी भी अपने आप को गुरू से श्रेष्ठ न समझना चाहिए तब गुरू भगवान से बढ़कर प्रतीत होता है गुरू के प्रति आदर रखना चाहिए यही शिष्य का धर्म है।

गुरु तेरे कितने रूप,
जितने भी हैं,सब हैं अनूप।
कभी प्रथम शिक्षिका बन,
माँ के रूप में आते हो।
कभी पिता बन,चलना,फिरना
जीवन की दौड़ सिखाते हो।

कभी धरा सी सहनशीलता।
नभ् सा विस्तार बताते हो।
कभी प्रकृति की छटा बन,
जीवन सिखला जाते हो।।
पुष्प से मुस्कान,
कांटो से कठिनाइयाँ
दरख्तों से कर्मठता समझाते।

तुम ही निराकार ब्रह्म हो,
तुम्ही हो साकार,
तुम ही सबके जीवन को,
देते नवाकार।
तुम बिन कैसे भला,
गोविन्द गीता कह पाते,
राम को राम बना,
श्री वशिष्ट तुम कहलाते।
तुम ही तममय् धरा पर,
एक स्त्रोत हो उजास का।

जो हीरा के गुण लिए

उस पाषाण की तलाश का।
तुम देते जीवन को दर्शन,
हर प्रतिबिम्ब का तुम हो दर्पण।
तुम हो ईश्वर,तुम हो मानव,
तुम तो हर कण-कण में हो।

तुम ही हो विष्णुस्परूप।
हे गुरु तेरे कितने रूप,
जितने भी हैं,सब हैं अनूप।।
