Why do you think that responsibility is an important trait?

Responsibility helps you learn how to handle difficult situations, make good decisions, set goals, and achieve them. Responsibility is essential because it makes you into a better person. Life lessons are often taught through taking responsibility for your actions, mistakes, and events.

When you are responsible for something, you accept that you own the success or failure of it. A responsible person keeps their eyes focussed on the things that matter most. It provides a sense of purpose and builds resilience amidst adversity on an individual and social level. By accepting responsibility, we become more action-oriented and gain confidence. The type of responsibilities we accept in our lives contributes to the person we become.

How can you teach your students to be responsible in school, at home, and outside?

The children are responsible for their own behaviour and words. We need to emphasize this through a reward system. Make the children enthusiastic about any task assigned to them. Once again, a reward system will work on this. Try and improve the responsibility of the children in a continuous manner. This could be achieved through assigning tasks, games, and activities and holding the children accountable for the outcomes.

In school, we can ask the children to represent the class in news reading in school assembly; of course, this will require guidance from the teacher. We must ensure that every child must participate in inter-section competitions. While we may win some, we will also lose some. Therefore, we must instil the spirit of winning for ourselves and the section. This will instil responsibility in the children.

At home, ask the children to pack their school bags according to the timetable and encourage them to polish their own shoes.

How strong is the culture of cooperation in your classroom?

Cooperation is working together with somebody else to achieve something. Cooperation is the sine-qua-non of teamwork. One of the essentials of school education is learning to work in a team. To promote cooperation, we must assign work to be done and games to be played as a team, simultaneously emphasizing the goal and our expectations and emphasizing a compelling cause. The games could be anything from Kabaddi to football or activities like short skits. A balloon and toothpick game is an excellent way to inculcate cooperation amongst the children.

My Classroom - Anvesha Rana

Teachers help students to find things that they have lost…

sometimes it's their book, bottle or bag but most of the time

it is the child's confidence, patience, courage and smile.

If I were an educator and had the opportunity to deal with students from diverse backgrounds, I would first understand that a classroom is like a garden blooming with flowers. Flowers that are of all different shapes and sizes, colours and fragrances. In my class, each student would be treated like a flower, nurtured with care, watered with love and planted with firmness. I only vision this garden right now, but I hope to visit it one day; oozing with so much learning, education, laughter and love. 

Nothing is perfect, but our imperfections are what make us. Imagine how monotonous a classroom would be without the troublemakers, the backbenchers and the ones at the root cause of the chaos. They are the imperfections that make you imperfect. Similarly, perfection will not be the key in my class, but accepting your flaws and trying your best will be one of the core principles. So no flower will be perfect; all of them will enter the gates of the raw garden only to learn how to appreciate themselves, just the way they are.

I don't want perfect flowers, but I like happy flowers, so if a fearful student or an impatient learner enters my class. I will try my best to make them grow. 

A fearful student will be afraid of others, but more than that, they will lack trust in themselves. Fear is nothing more than an obstacle in the way of progress. In overcoming our fears, we can move forward more robust and wiser within ourselves. First, I will try to understand my student's fear of making friends, coming to school or interacting with teachers. Then I will try to counsel them. Also, I will open up with the student to increase their confidence. As a teacher, I will be frank towards them, like regularly cracking jokes or talking about simple everyday things. This way, I will develop a comfort and fun level with the student, and then I would ask them to do the same with the other kids and maybe with every new person they meet. 

I hope that I will be able to pull the fearful student out of his pot and help him grow into a beautiful, lush green tree. 

If an impatient student ever enters my class, I would make them learn patience and appreciation. Most impatient people are attention seekers and think that they are the best. So humility will also be an integral value for the impatient student. I would try to interact with the impatient student separately and give them exercises to increase patience. As a teacher, I would demonstrate how patience helps in life and why it is important to inspire them to walk onto the path of patience. 

I hope that through all this, I will be able to ameliorate patience in this young learner. 

I would love to be a teacher because a teacher is not only an educator but a learner, a counsellor, a parent, an entertainer and a confidant.

The above words of wisdom are pretty much the founding principle of our world, Why Sooo Serious?

As the name describes, our world never falls short of delivering the laughs and surprises. However, weaved in these layers of fun and joy lies the learning. This learning is beyond academics, sports or any other extracurricular activity children indulge in today. This learning is about being Happy and Healthy. Happy by heart, and healthy by mind and body. 

At Why Sooo Serious we offer the set of learning in two formats, the first is the parenting application which is a playful way enables parents to educate themselves and their child about the key areas that require attention in today’s world. 

Our second offering is functional literature which is lead by our Child Development Packs. The three packs on offer are Habits, Values and Essentials. The packs contain whimsical stories which offer to learn. Are these regular stories? We believe not. Apart from being super fun, happy and never boring, our stories are built around the real-life of a child. In these stories, you will not find Aliens from other planets, or talking animals and birds. Each book is written with the intention of a child resonating with the story as his or her own.

The length of each story aims to expand and build the attention span of the child and does not offer cluttered messages but one clear message of learning. 

Each story is penned artistically in dramatic conversational English to induce fun and retention. The stories are set across multiple beautiful and colour rich expressions of cities, towns and landscapes, from medieval and modern times. At the end of each story, the fun continues with our engaging activities and a melodious sing along the poem, you will find a few of these in the stories too.
