Recognising Priyank Kumar Gupta for his contributions to Award India's Digital Media

The Award Programme relies on dedicated support from Volunteers. Priyank has been the silent support for IAYP India since 2009. Solely responsible for all Digital Media resources from manning the website, to the blog, to developing the online database to the intranet system, Priyank's commitment to make the Award National Office a powerhouse in keeping up with the demands of daily communications is much appreciated. A true Volunteer, Priyank sits in The English Book Depot, Dehradun and offers complete voluntary support as he believes that young people are the future of tomorrow.
The designs of this e-weekly, the Award India Magazine and the Award Blog that links all communications, stories and feedback of Award participants, Award Leaders and Award Volunteers are all a result of Priyank's hard work. Thank you, Priyank for all that you do!

Volunteers back in action!

The happy team is back... 3rd July 2010, the volunteer Gold Holders have kicked off a new season for the Award in India. Same month in 2009, IAYP India formally launched the Volunteer inititives at the national office, as the Delhi University now reopens, we are all set to bring on board new energy.

The meeting was attended by Saachi, Pranay, Tripti, Ankit, Neha, Nivedia and Atom too. Ideas were floated and plans are afoot for 2010-11; events, administering and buildng the GAHS was the key agenda. The Gold Holders and Volunteers will meet every Saturday at 3.00 PM at 'the studio' and work to engaging youth in society.

The Studio

The new training and resource centre opened on the 24th of April 2010, and we hosted our first meeting of The Gold Award Holders' Society. The facility is branded 'the studio' and in addtion to conference services, is equipped with internet, refence section and a pantry. This centre will help in capacity builidng and training to take ahead the mission of 'equip for life'.

Located in an area of 1600 sq ft, is air conditioned with power backup. Housed in 86 Shahpur Jat, on the first floor, is in the building adjacent to the national office. The facility will host training programmes, workshops, participanat meetings and help us further as a location for serving the needs of the Open Award Centre.

"the studio" is dedicated to the enthusiastic young participants, and will further double up as a location for tbe Trust, Governing Council and other meetings too. Welcome to the facility, and you can call us on +91 11 32442626 for further information.

9 Point Action Plan...

1. Working Groups- Not much progress this week.
This will happen once the schools open and the Zonal Chairpersons get to meet up with the National Director. The Working Group comprises Zonal Chairperson, Members of NAA and could be an invitee.
In July the Trustees meet, and further we will have in place some policy decisions to take this ahead. Until then cheers!

2. Exchange initiatives - please do work on this with your Zonal Team and the schools.
Sourajit is back, and now we look ahead to encourage exchange visits of Awardees, participants and Award Leaders.

3. IT Initiative – the Blog and the Facebook features, The IAYP website are being updated regularly

Priyank is controlling all from the Book Cafe IT and Management Centre, in Dehradun, India. He will work on a National IT strategy and see how we can develop a solutions for the entire IT backbone needed for the Award in India. Rohit is in touch with Priyank.

4. The first 18-25 Award Centre SRI AUROBINDO CENTRE FOR ARTS AND CULTURE;

The first OPEN AWARD CENTRE in India, will start work in July, after the college admissions are done.

5. Zonal offices – will all be doing their bit to build up the teams and infrastructure.
