Simplicity and Trust - Aspiration JMMS

Collage work with dry leaves, beauty in simplicity, with teamwork and trust.

Simplicity is the quality to be simple, pure and understandable.

Trust is the belief which one carries to the other.

Both of these qualities are needed when we talk about the relations weather it is with our family, society, and environment or with the students.

Hope and Friendship - Swabhi Parmar

Hope is essential in life because it not only gives you the strength to overcome the pain but also makes the journey for the future easier. Let’s not worry about the fact that today is bad. Hope keeps us telling that tomorrow will be better than this. When I’m hopeful for anything, I feel the sorrows and difficulties of today will soon end. Hope keeps us positive.

As you know, our mind has lots of effects on our actions. If your mind tells you to stay strong on a path and not to lose courage, you will do so. So, Hope gives a positive mind power.

Hope helps us to ignore the sufferings of the present. When we stay positive about our future and feel that we have to fight to win the problems, our capacity to succeed increases. Hope is a belief, so if you believe then definitely something good will happen. The intensity of this feeling can really change your present and future.

Hope has the tendency to change negative into positive. If we understand that essence of Hope, it is always very sweet. It’s an inspiration to live life the best way we can. So make your Hope strong. Hope will give you the courage and inspiration to stick to your dream as long as you breathe. If you have a strong aspiration, Hope and faith, nothing can bring you down. It lets you aim at the sole purpose of your life.

“Hope is a match in a dark tunnel, a moment of light, just enough to reveal the path ahead and ultimately the way out and on the other hand, friendship actually doesn’t fit into any definition. It’s a relationship that cannot be described in words. Friends are those who make you feel good about yourself, who will laugh with you and make you feel lighter. They are the ones who will be there for you during happiness and at times when you need them most. When the world turns back at you they will be there right by your side.

The importance of friendship in our life is beyond any description. Everybody goes through some difficult phases in life. During those times you need a shoulder to cry on. Friends can give exactly that. They will be there to listen to your nonsense talks and still acknowledge whatever you are saying to lighten your heart. With friends, you laugh out loud which makes you energetic and healthy. It can help you to overcome depression and so helps in improving your mental health as well. Sometimes we are in doubt about our abilities and decisions. But friends will never doubt you. They will be there to encourage you to move forward in life.

No matter how difficult a task may be to achieve, they will push you to overcome all the obstacles and accomplish that task. Our family loves us because we share blood. But friends love us without any such condition. They give us unconditional love without expecting anything in return. Whenever you need them they will be with you no matter what the situation is. They will always be there to support you. You will only get this type of love from your family. We share the most amazing relationship with our friends and the times spent with them become the most memorable ones in our lives. Friends are one of the valuable assets of life.

Friendship helps you build one another and can aid you in overcoming your fears and achieving the goals of your life. Many times, in life, there are some fears that stop people from striving for what they desire. Friends push you out of your comfort zone so you can learn new things. I personally feel that Hope and friendship are the two most eternal parts of every human being. These are not mere values but these are the reasons for which any person lives. Friendship and Hope are interconnected. When Hope pushes you forward from within then a friend also pushes you from outside and helps you to fight all the odds and come back as a winner.

Happiness and Tolerance - Odyssey SHS

Happiness is that feeling that comes over you when you know life is good and you can’t help but smile. It is the essence of living. Life is not about surviving but enjoying each day with love, hope and aspiration. An individual loses happiness when he feels detached from the finer aspects of life. A self-contented person finds happiness in the simplest of things whereas an unhappy person finds it difficult to experience subtle pleasures in life. If that individual is a young boy, the situation becomes alarming. When a child carries an angry and forlorn look, it is a serious issue. Rajiv joined Sacred Heart School in 2009 as a student of class 4.

From the very beginning, one could sense a young rebel in him. He disliked studying and completing his assignments. It was an arduous task to make him sit still for a minute in the class. Rajiv loved to create disturbances in the classroom and revelled at being reprimanded. His sheer disobedience for school rules made him audacious most of the times. Nothing made him smile. He always wore a grumpy look and argued with teachers nonchalantly. Teachers tried to rein his wild spirits but all in vain. Rajiv lived a careless life who could never be bogged down by detentions and suspensions.
However, there was one thing that soaked up all his negative energy and made him focused. It was the football field that made him happy. He loved to play football. The teachers noticed his love for the game and acknowledged his achievements in the sports field. Gradually the young boy started showing some improvement in his behaviour. The constant praises from the teachers and his peers started working wonders for Rajiv. Over the years, this change transformed him drastically. He was no longer sad or unhappy. There was always a smile on his face and he yearned for the love and affection from the teachers. This led to his improvement in academics. The young Rajiv was now a grown-up student of m class 12. The teachers felt a sense of pride and satisfaction when he successfully completed his board examinations. Rajiv had matured with time and found his happiness in life.

Tolerance is being patient, understanding and willing to accept the ideas of others. There was a boy named Peter studying in grade six. He was a hardworking and innovative student. In the beginning, he behaved well with everyone but slowly he began to change in such a way that he didn’t miss a single day to irritate his teachers. It was very difficult to keep him in the class. He used to create confusion in the class, in the hostel and wherever it was possible. The management was deciding to expel him but the teachers took a brave stand. Peter was not just a student for them. He was a big responsibility and they refused to give up on him.

Some senior teachers thought of talking to him and making him realize about his misbehavior  in the class. Some of the teachers took bold steps to bring some positive changes in him. Teachers like R K Das Sir and Niloy Hait Sir took the initiative. Their sincere efforts paid off in the end. He understood his weaknesses later on and realized his mistakes. Slowly he began to change himself in a positive way. He started thinking positively about the school, about the teachers and about his classmates.

Youthful Nation

Power of Sports for Development (S4D)

The nation is always young and has many of us in transition. The young aspire for a better world the nations must evolve and keep up with the needs and aspirations of the youth. Youth development is really the crux of nation building, the country that takes care of the young people develops and goes on to become not only rich in wealth and culture but evolves as a real welfare state. There is thus the necessity of having a healthy and more fit young populace. The core of the youthful nation will only be strengthened by promoting physical recreation in the life of the young people.

Education many a times is touted and promoted as literacy; promotes the need to read and write for a better future, this is not enough.
We need thinking and understanding and that is really the bottom line for a better future. There is the growing need for mentors to help the young, empower them to live in harmony with nature, encourage them to serve the community and more so be physically fit and better skilled than simply educated in the read and write way. We all have to work to equip for life the young, challenge them to achieve their true potential and keep the nation young, dynamic and on the growth path always.

India's rise in economic terms is closely linked to the youth power, and all investments in building youth capital will help the young equip for life. Yes, inclusive growth the mantra of governments is enshrined on building up the quality of life for the young people, and we all need to partner to help the young achieve their true potential. How do we do this? Let us invest in our youth and help them all live a healthy life. The best investment in youth will be in the form of pushing sports, not necessarily at the professional level, but for better health and wellbeing, we have endless research to show that poor health will not give us the desired academic results. India today needs to give same regard to sports as it does to any of the key economic activity that generates the millions for the states exchequer.

What does industry mean? Wikipedia refers industry as an activity that brings about the production of an economic good or service within an economy. An economy consists of the economic system of a country or other area; the laborcapital and land resources; and the manufacturingtradedistribution, and consumption of goods and services of that area. An economy may also be described as a spatially limited and social network where goods and services are exchanged according to demand and supply between participants by barter or a medium of exchange with a credit or debit value accepted within the network. Sport very much fulfils this criterion, and for the youthful nation must thus be regarded as an industry and a major service that adds to the GDP of a nation. Any nation that uses sport as a development plank not only has a healthy lifestyle, is a youthful nation in itself. These nations today are major economic powers and believe in their young people.

Physical recreation with its emphasis on both individual sport and team games is designed to build the sinews as well as team spirit. Learning to function together with other to build a team is an invaluable art. Beyond just being an industrious activity, sport is the biggest catalyst in nation building, and is the best way for social inclusion and economic development. A nation must stay young to lead in the world, and the best way is to use sport as a key development initiative. Many developed nations have even used a term of military / services training as a compulsory activity for the youth, they thus work to build on achieving the goal of inculcating patriotic sentiment, but more is done to encourage physical fitness and the love for the outdoor. All this helps the young people to be equipped for life, and this again is the only way to build a better citizenry.

The International Award for Young People (IAYP), is a tool to ‘equip for life’ young people in India and a major components of the programme are targeted at using sport and outward bound activity as key enablers. The Award Programme is the most adaptable and successful youth empowerment program. We have no religious, political or strategic affiliations. We have an established capacity for identifying hard issues and challenges associated with youth. Schools, youth organisations, community groups, correctional services, employers and government departments nationwide use the Programme framework. Around the world, over 130 countries use this model for positive youth empowerment. We draw together and connect people, institutions and generations with the common purpose of youth development and inclusion. IAYP is the Programme of choice for over 9 million people in the world today.

The prescription for a youthful nation is only one, challenge young people everywhere. The vision of any sport for development initiative should be to equip for life all young Indians and to help achieve their full potential. We see the possibility of a nation where every school offers young Indian the opportunity to be rewarded for challenging themselves, rewarded for engaging with adult mentors, rewarded when finishing school, and rewarded for giving back to their communities. This really is the spirit for a youthful nation. We all need to ensure that we work to create best ecosystem to enable our youth, and there is no better way to do this than making sport for development a key agenda in all our initiatives.

Live it up!

“Enjoy life. This is not a dress rehearsal.”
- Author Unknown

From Power of Now to The Prize, all espouse the life at the present moment. The young live for the present moment, and this is the best possible gift. While the grown ups one plan for the future and hope to live it, the young feel yesterday is a bore and tomorrow may not come...this is the life and that is where the challenge lies.

All strategic plans and crystal ball gazing has no meaning, if this one life is not lived with fun and more so by making the most of it. We the mentors have a lot to learn from this and need to ensure that there is more learning with fun and this is the most essential element to help us connect with the young. There is only one life, and we need to live this in harmony and not in contradiction with the youth.

The young have aspirations that must be lived today, and not be retained as dreams for tomorrow. The now generation as the youth are often labelled, affirms the belief that life is now, they want it all instant, from food to fun and to learning. Today is the best time, with a free flow of knowledge and a virtual world, we have to make the most and make now the best time of our lives.
