Unity and Caring - Nitin Sharma

When you have unity, it’s fantastic. When you don’t, it’s awful. Unity lightens the heart and brightens the day, an abundant source of joy and optimism, allowing even the most difficult tasks to be enjoyable. Unity represents togetherness. Therefore, it is standing together for every thick and thin matter. When we work together, we are motivated and encouraged to work harder. Also, we push each other to accomplish our goals, which is a significant motivational factor.

In this context, we have done a challenging activity in our classes IX and X. The move was that some groups were made from classes IX and X, and students were supposed to decide the best place for an excursion. All groups were given one week, and each group leader was supposed to prepare various pros and cons for an excursion to that place along with all the details. To my surprise, students had prepared excellent information for that place, such as location, travelling expenses, and refreshments. They beautifully linked that excursion to the related topics mentioned in their curriculum. So an excursion to Maple Camp was decided, full of adventurous activities. This excursion was full of joy and excitement, as this was possible only because of the unity of the students.

I am very thankful to the JOL Cohort for allowing me to share the experience of this beautiful activity.

Caring:
No other experience better than this excursion can be there to share the best example of caring for each other. Each group leader was very concerned about his/ her team members and their teachers. It was a tremendous hand-holding for all of us. Each student came ahead to help another student, and how they motivated each other.

In the end, I would like to end with a quote -

Thanks!

Hope and Friendship - Dynamic DGS

Hope is the oxygen of the heart and soul, and thus the essence of life and our entire planet thrives on it, for it's like a prism through which we see a spectrum of optimism. Positive thoughts may be the possibility of a key to a closed-door or another open door! We, as mentors, are a beacon of hope for our students; a hope that keeps us all positive in a confusing world so full of negativity; a hope of getting better at everything each day. Similarly, mentors too hope that all their efforts put into their students will be recognised and appreciated.

Hope motivates us to persevere and keep moving forward despite the many obstacles we may face during our journey. "Whispering hope, o how welcome thy voice, making my heart in its sorrow rejoice." Where there is hope, there is a beautiful relationship, and that is friendship. The language of friendship is not words but meanings.

Our friends teach us to be patient with each other, try new hobbies, and a friend gives hope when life is low. That is why it's a great fortune to have a good and understanding friend. Friendship gets a whole new meaning in boarding schools, as the bond, we share with our friends is the purest form of friendship, where we learn to share, care and accept each other for who we are. Hope rekindles the flame of bonding through friendship in boarding schools by accepting our friends as family. In life, I was once told that if you make even one true friend, you are a fortunate person. We cannot choose our family, but we can definitely choose our friends. This gives us the hope to feel comfortable, especially in a boarding school, without our family being present.

So hope and friendship go beautifully hand in hand. Fostering hope in our lives is important for our mental and emotional health.

Courtesy: wayneelsey.com
Patience is the trait to accept delays, problems or suffering without becoming angry or annoyed with anyone.

When you decide to do something different, it is only patience that gives you an inner strength to move on and stand against all odds. It brings an inner peace into your life. It makes you an optimism person and above all, it helps you to deal with stress and difficult situation. It helps you to remain healthy and stress-free.

Patience is that value that helps us to stand or remain calm in all situations in spite of any difficulty or problems. It helps us when we are trying to overcome our fears or maybe we trying to do something different from others. Patience is one value that has a positive influence in your life and helps you to achieve success in life.

I would like to end with a quote by Joyce Meyer “Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting”.

Hope and Friendship - Prakash Dangi

"Hope" the word is small but it's meaning is very large for our society. Everyone needs it, and almost everyone exhibits at least some measure of hope if they have made it as far as this day. Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence. Stay positive and happy. Work hard and don’t give up hope. A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination in students.

Hope allows us to approach problems with a proactive, positive mindset, and increase our chances of success. It’s when life gets difficult that we need to utilize hope the most. we must keep in mind that hope is active, it is something we do rather than something we have. If you find yourself in a situation that you would like to turn to, get out and start doing something about it. Put some action behind your hope. For example;. Today we can’t physically go to school, so we started online classes. Starting days only 2-3 students joined the class but after some time the students increased.

It is only possible to have hope. Being a positive influence on the world around you will inspire and motivate people to stay hopeful in their goals. Sometimes we face difficult conditions then confidence and trust have been broken, only hope sustains us in our lives. Friendship can simply be defined as a form of mutual relationship or understanding between two people or more who interact and are attached to one another in a manner that is friendly.

It is a  relationship of devotion between two or more people where people involved have a true and sincere feeling of affection, care and love towards each other devoid of any misunderstanding and without demands. It is the purest form of relationship between two individuals with no hidden agenda.

It is very important to have a friend in life. Each friend is vital and their significance in known to us when certain circumstances emerge which must be supported by our friends. All of the different religion, caste, position, sex and age do not matter. Friendship is important in life because it teaches us a great deal about life. We learn so many lessons from friendship which we won’t find anywhere else. Friendship never leaves us in bad times. You learn how to understand people and trust others. Your real friends will always motivate you and cheer for you.

Similarly, friendship also teaches you a lot about loyalty. It helps us to become loyal and get loyalty in return. Therefore, there is no doubt that best friends help us in our difficulties and bad times of life. They always try to save us in our dangers as well as offer timely advice. The relationship between a student and teacher as the most powerful element in the learning environment as the relationship can affect how students learn, achieve, perform and develop. Honesty and patience both are important role play in a hopeful and friendly atmosphere.

Happiness and Tolerance – Adapters SHS

Students always have the tendency to grasp things in different ways which may not always be what we would like to portray to them. As teachers, we are expected to maintain a balance between students’ happiness as well as class discipline.

Happiness and Tolerance are like two sides of the same coin where the students, as well as the teachers, may face difficulty in applying them in their every-day lives. A classroom incident to which we as teachers or reminiscing our school days may relate to is given in the following short story.
It was an everyday scenario, the students lined up outside their respective classes waiting for their teacher to escort them inside the classes. Mr Hylton, the class teacher of grade 8 comes over to the class to conduct the 1st period that being Moral Science. He walks in and introduces the chapter “Happiness”. The students were all very eager to explore this topic.

He begins:
Mr Hylton: “What makes you happy?”

The students came up with some very interesting ideas about happiness.
Soham: “I feel happy when I laugh.”
Aditya: “Sir, Music makes me happy.”
Gaurav: “Sir, I am only happy when I eat.”
Raju: “Sir, When I sleep I am very very happy.”

The teacher was very happy with their responses. Then he starts emphasizing on the different aspects of happiness.
Mr Hylton: “Happiness may mean the Joy one derives from inner satisfaction, Optimism which ultimately leads to better productivity.”

The students seemed to be listening to Mr Hylton intently and grasping all that he was saying. Mr Hylton was also very happy seeing that the children were very interested in the topic. While he was still discussing the same, the bell rang, ending the class midway.

On the very same day, Mr Hylton had History class with grade 8 in the last period. As he enters the class he says :
Mr Hylton: “Children please get ready I am going to take up the lesson about The Gupta Dynasty.”

The students follow his instructions and get ready for the lesson. As Mr. Hylton was in the midst of explaining the lesson, he noticed that Gaurav and Raju were busy scribbling in their notebooks and giggling.
Mr Hylton: “Gaurav, Raju, please stand up. Why aren’t you paying attention?’’
Gaurav: “Sir, we are practising happiness.”

A realization hits Mr Hylton that his Moral Science lesson was not perceived in a positive way by the students. Suddenly he instructs Gourav.
Mr Hylton: “Gaurav, Please go to the Music Room and get the Guitar.”

The students look surprised at this sudden reaction by Mr Hylton. Gaurav follows his instruction and brings a guitar.

Mr Hylton: ‘’Class, I shall play a tune and you will sing along.’’

The entire class looked dazed and confused yet were curious as to what their teacher was up to because they knew that their teacher did not know-how to play the Guitar.

Aditya: “ Sir, Are you alright? This is not the Music class. You are our History teacher, you don’t even know how to play the Guitar!”

Mr Hylton: “Well children, this is what makes ME happy.”

It then dawns upon Gurav and Raju that they had misinterpreted the true definition of ‘’Happiness,’’ which meant being happy but at the same time expressing happiness in the right way and the right time.

Mr Hylton is a true representation of how intolerance can be handled also teaching the students what happiness truly means.
