Detach Yourself From Past Experiences - Read And Lead: Masterclass 2026

Reading the book The Courage To Be Disliked by Kishima and Koga with Gurdeep Kaur and Sandeep Dutt, on the 1st of November 2025.

From the session, I understood that when we avoid doing something due to insecurity or fear, we often deceive ourselves psychologically. Our mind and body are deeply connected, and such avoidance can manifest physically in the form of headaches, stomach cramps, or other discomforts.

In my personal experience, whenever I am afraid of doing something, I start shivering. I am usually aware of the reason behind this fear, which makes me realise that I need to consciously reframe my thoughts. By convincing myself with a strong and positive belief that "I am confident about this"—and truly feeling it rather than merely saying it—I can overcome the anxiety that holds me back.

I also learned that this practice can be applied to many situations in life. By detaching ourselves from past experiences and focusing on the present with confidence, we can develop greater emotional resilience and self-assurance.

Our past does not control our present. We have the power to decide what meaning we give to our past experiences.

Change is always possible.
Everyone can change and become better — if they choose to.

Trauma is not the end. It may influence us, but it does not determine our future. We decide how to move ahead.

We often create excuses without realising it. Sometimes fear and anxiety are created by us to avoid things we don't want to do.

Anger can be a tool.
Often, we use anger to dominate others or force them to listen to us.

Happiness is a choice, not a gift.
We don't wait for happiness to come — we create it through our thoughts and actions.

Self-pity blocks growth.
When we continually feel inferior or compare ourselves, we stop recognising our own strengths.

Courage comes from accepting ourselves. Loving who we are — even if others disagree — is the real courage.

Heart Vs Mind - Sunbeam School Sarnath

The video HEART VS MIND highlights the contrast between emotion and reason. The heart drives decisions through feelings and passion, while the mind relies on logic and analysis. A balance between both is crucial—too much emotion can lead to turmoil, while excessive logic may make life rigid. Adolescents often follow their hearts due to their developing brains, causing communication gaps and anger issues. Instead of being rigid, adults should practice soft power—being assertive yet patient—to guide them effectively.

Quality and Love - Roopa Bhattacharyya

A student who does a shoddy job with classwork and homework

The pandemic has had a telling effect on the writing ability of many children. In the last two years, assignments and tests were mainly based on google Forms and multiple-choice responses. The students were rarely required to submit classwork or homework in written form. So, when I started teaching grade three in physical classes last April, most students could not write words and sentences with clearly formed letters, as expected from a third grader. So, in addition to the regular work, I had to make them practice handwriting. While many improved, two children submitted shoddy work after six months. So, I gave them particular practice and motivated them to get a gold star for doing neat work. This has helped improve the quality of the classwork and homework.

However, only one of the laggard children still needed to improve. Counselling the child showed that his parents could not help him due to their busy work schedule and general apathy towards education. The child was bright and knew all the answers orally. However, he could not write it down neatly; the handwriting needed to be legible. It took almost one year of constant motivation, and finally, the child is writing legibly now.

Two underage students in a romantic relationship

Since teaching in the primary department, I have never encountered students in a romantic relationship. Nowadays, children are overexposed to TV and OTP platforms thus, they often say things like “I LOVE YOU” to other children, and immediately, some others respond “, HAW”. Some even go to the teacher and report this. So I, as a teacher, explain that love is a great feeling and nothing to be embarrassed by. I explain to them that their parents love them, they love their parents, they love their brothers and sisters, they love their teachers, and the teachers also love them. So, love is a feeling of concern and sharing. It is one of the noblest emotions.

Happiness and Tolerance - Invincible Alphians

Happiness is essential in life, and it comes from us only. We should not overthink. We should not hate anyone around us. We should always try to help people around us, then naturally we will have peace of mind and peace of mind is only happiness.

7 Remarkably Powerful Keys to Happiness

  • Live (or work) at the moment. Don't get stressed thinking about things you have to do later on. ...
  • Find resilience. ...
  • Manage your energy. ...
  • Do nothing. ...
  • Treat yourself well. ...
  • Venture outside your comfort zone. ...
  • Show compassion outwardly.
We can say that Happiness is the feeling of truly enjoying your life and the desire to make the very best of it. Happiness is the "secret sauce" that can help us be and do our best. It has also been found that: Happy people are more successful.

Tolerance is also an essential thing in life. Tolerance does not mean giving up one's own way of life. Tolerance is following the motto  'Live and let Live'. Tolerance just understands another person’s beliefs and practices, and habits without necessarily accepting them or following them.

It is adjusting to others a little, giving up just a little to make someone else happy. It understands that everyone has more or less the same basic needs as oneself. It realises that ultimately everyone wants to be happy and peaceful. We should understand that following does not help others alone. It helps oneself greatly when one is tolerant, the mind expands, habitual selfish junk is replaced with fresh peacefulness and calmness.

Tolerance is an important concept that helps people to live together peacefully. Tolerance also means that you don't put your opinions above others, even when you are sure that you are right. Tolerant people show strength in that they can deal with different opinions and perspectives.
  • Listen Carefully Without Jumping to Conclusions. ...

  • Try to Understand the Other Person's Point of View. ...

  • Agree to Disagree.

  • Tolerance is patience toward a practice or opinion you disapprove of — Tolerance is being agreeable—listening carefully and treating the person with dignity and respect—while you disagree. ...

  • Tolerance has limits—Reality is beyond opinion.

How one can achieve Tolerance?

Tolerance comes by practice. Nothing comes on its own; practice yourself to listen, wait and approach rules. This can be explained by the following examples:-

Tolerance is nothing in front of a mother who carried us in her womb for 10 months. That is the most beautiful as well painful tolerance ever one can compare.

Think about a soldier who is waiting for his next gunshot to hear by hiding inside the bushes.

A beggar hardly earns in a day and returns with an empty pocket and wake up with the tolerance level of hope to survive.

A photographer who waits for a year to just capture the fish to come out from the water.

In contrast, precocial birds spend hardly any time in the nest and are often seen wandering in search of food alongside their parents only hours after hatching.

There is no level called Zero tolerance. Life goes on its flow. Show your patience towards it and replace the word tolerance.

In short, we can say, Happiness and Tolerance are like two sides of the same coin.
  1. Intolerant people can often be happy.

  2. Unhappy people can often be tolerant.

  3. Tolerant people are often also happy.

  4. Happy people are often also tolerant.
